Reflective writing DRAWING

The drawing and conceptual work we did during the diagnostic course was something I thoroughly enjoyed and felt genuinely excited about. These drawings from the sound in the room and observing movement in the body are some of my favourite pieces of work I have done as I found the variation in line and mark-making to be something I had not properly understood before. I really tried to properly document and express the sound and depth of the movement and noises I was trying to draw, varying my marks and materials accordingly. This task encouraged me to consider drawing as a pathway as it strengthened my observational skills and my ability to generate innovative ideas quickly whilst executing them concisely. The task to 'collect something' intangible or stagnant and to draw them into life was also really interesting as it forced me to consider drawing as something beyond the traditional graphite and paper approach I have been used to throughout school. The combination of traditionally recording and observing with pencil/ pen on paper and the conceptual approach really appealed to me and the collecting pinky promises project is something I could see myself developing into a larger project. The vast array of options within drawing and conceptual is very intriguing and would allow me to explore the boundaries and possibilities of projects whilst using a variety of different mediums to draw and document.
